I was born in Fortaleza, a city in the Northeast of Brazil. I am the sixth (and youngest) child to my parents. I was born in a family with Roman Catholic roots. However, I myself was an atheist (as well as three of my siblings). My family had contact with missionaries from Baptist Mid-Missions – especially Harold Reiner. My second oldest brother accepted Christ as his Savior in 1976, being soon followed by his wife.

Few years later, one of my sisters was also reached by our Lord’s grace and became e true believer.

I received a New Testament from my brother and was challenged to read it. Since I was very impressed with the strong testimony of my two Christian siblings, I started to read the Gospel of Matthew.

God worked in my circumstances and in my heart. As I was delving into a worldly behavior, He made my heart feel increasingly anguished. Therefore, He prepared me to be strongly impressed by Christ’s words in Matthew 11:28. I realized that Christ was closer to me than I ever imagined! Few weeks later, I thoroughly surrendered my soul to Him. I was 17 years old at that time, and the day I clearly realized that I had been born again was July 8, 1980.

In September of 2001 the Lord fulfilled my great desire to marry Karen, a faithful believer. Our union was further blessed with the birth of our daughter.

Experience in Christian work

I became music leader in Manancial Baptist Church in May, 1993, and assistant pastor there in May, 1998. During this time, I have been involved in Bible teaching (in Sunday School classes, as well as in small groups).

I also led the singles group of the church for about 10 years.

I eventually preached in my local church, as well as in conferences in other churches.

I have taught some classes in Bible Colleges/Institutes in my State (Ceará), such as Seminário Batista do Cariri and Sibima.

I wrote a workbook with the main doctrines of Christian Theology, to be used in the instruction of new converts.

In 2011, I created and directed a musical event called “Louvor em Harmonia” (Praise in Harmony), that reunites Christian musicians from different cities and, during one week, prepares a recital (with choir and orchestra). It has been annually repeated, since then.

The interest of redirecting the focus of my ministry to Bible teaching and preaching made me pursue the Master’s degree in Theology – which I achieved on May, 2014, in Central Baptist Theological Seminary (Plymouth, MN).

On August, 2014, me and Karen officially joined BGFM as Mission Partners in Brazil.

Karen Clark

Karen accepted Christ as a child in 1982. In 1986, as Kelso she also began attending Manancial Baptist Church. She graduated in Business Administration from the Federal University of Ceará. Karen has served in various ministries in their church, and lately has been devoted to the work of APEC Ceará (Brazilian branch of Child Evangelism Fellowship) and to the blogs Repare Nisso and Tips and Friends. Both links offer varieties and biblical messages.
